Tea Garden Celebrates Culture with Kraftangan Johor and Johor Heritage Foundation

Jan 03, 2024

Tea Garden hosted an Open House event at its Taman Perling branch, welcoming a distinguished group of influencers, food reviewers, as well as esteemed representatives from Kraftangan Johor and Johor Heritage Foundation. The event marked a significant milestone in the Tea Garden journey, unveiling its new menu offerings and celebrating Malaysia's rich cultural heritage.

The event was highlighted by the witnessing of intricate batik craft creation. Local artist Pn. Rafidah from Imarazak, in collaboration with Kraftangan Johor, demonstrated her craftsmanship by transforming iconic batik designs into the inspiration for Tea Garden’s upcoming merchandise collection. This inspiring moment unfolded in the presence of Mohd Ridhuan bin Abu Bakar, Complex Management Officer of Kraftangan Johor, and Puan Sarina Taslim, Deputy Director of Johor Heritage Foundation.

Ms. Tan Soo Hui, the Director of the Tea Garden chain of restaurants, expressed her heartfelt belief, saying, " Tonight we celebrate the uniqueness of Malaysia food cuisine and art heritage that we hold dear. As a local business operator, I truly believe that our organization cannot merely be a restaurant serving good food. We also have a responsibility to promote and spread the richness of Malaysia's unique culture and heritage to the world. Being in Johor Bahru, this mission holds even more personal importance to us, as we welcome numerous visitors from Singapore daily."

In line with its ongoing commitment to spreading Malaysia's unique culture, Tea Garden announced the introduction of its Food Heritage Workshop. This workshop will provide participants with a hands-on experience of handmade Dim Sum, a beloved Chinese-style bite-sized snack that has become an integral part of Malaysian cuisine.

Tea Garden takes pride in being at the forefront of preserving culinary traditions while offering unique and immersive experiences to its customers. The restaurant remains dedicated to offering casual dining experiences that honour and celebrate the diverse and vibrant heritage of Malaysia.
